The early weeks
Bleeding, cramping, perineal discomfort, incision pain, swelling, breast or chest changes, fatigue, and pelvic-floor symptoms can occur after birth. Direction of change and how you feel overall matter.
- Heavy or gushing bleeding, faintness, chest pain, trouble breathing, severe headache, or feeling very unwell can be urgent
- Fever, worsening pain, foul-smelling discharge, or wound concerns deserve prompt advice
- Ask what recovery signs fit your birth and medical history
